School Based Police Officer

Role: 

School based policing is a crime prevention strategy aimed at reducing crime through developing police/youth rapport and implementing educational programs. School based policing is a joint commitment by the Queensland Police Service and Education Queensland. School based police officers work to reduce the incidence of crime and anti-social behaviour within the school community, contribute to the network of support agencies for students, provide a safe and supportive environment for students to learn and promote positive relationships with the school community.

Services Offered:

Provide an educational resource for the delivery of lectures on law, police duties and related topics which form part of the school curriculum

  • Provide information sessions as requested by staff or the school community

  • Commence investigations in relation to offences which fall with the parameters of the school community

  • Liaise with local community and business regarding offences committed during school hours to determine if truancy is a factor

  • Network with local Adopt-a-cops
