Redbank Plains State High School's mission is to create rewarding learning opportunities in a safe, respectful environment for all students. We have high expectations of all students and we are committed to providing a learning environment where every student can thrive, regardless of their background, abilities, or needs. We recognise that there are students that will require additional support. We provide reasonable adjustments, remove barriers, differentiate at a high level and provide appropriate resources to support positive student outcomes. Staff work hard to know and understand students and their individual needs.
Additional support may come through the participation in one (or more) of the following supports:
- Case Management
- Literacy and Numeracy Intervention
- Individual Curriculum Plans
- Engagement with support staff at the school (e.g. Guidance Officer, Chaplain, School Based Youth Health Nurse)
- Teacher Aide support
We are proud of our inclusive school community, where every student belongs. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or during school events, we believe that diversity enriches our school experience. Together, we create a culture where differences are seen as strengths, and where every child can shine.
Inclusive Education Policy
Inclusive education means that students can access and fully participate in learning, alongside their similar-aged peers, supported by reasonable adjustments and teaching strategies tailored to meet their individual needs. Inclusion is embedded in all aspects of school life and is supported by culture, policies and every day practices.
School to Work
Our specialist subject, "School to Work", is a yearlong subject that incorporates an outdoor education program using group activities such as hiking, canoeing, and camping to build team work, resilience and self- esteem. The subject is aligned to the Health and Physical Education curriculum in year 7 to 10, with additional content to develop essential personal and social capabilities. In year 11 and 12, the subject supports the development of skills that are transferrable to workplaces. This is an invitation only subject.
QCIA
The Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA) recognises and reports the achievements of students whose learning is part of an individual learning program. It is an official record that students have completed at least 12 years of education and provides students with a summary of their skills and knowledge to present to employers and training providers. An individual learning program is a school-developed program of study using curriculum organisers and learning goals. It does not contribute to the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). To be eligible, students will have been working on an individual curriculum plan in previous school years, with challenges in learning that are not primarily due to socioeconomic, cultural or linguistic factors.
