At Redbank Plains State High School, we prioritise the development of student leaders. We believe that by providing opportunities for students to take on leadership roles, they can develop important skills such as communication, problem-solving, and decision-making that will serve them well in their future endeavours.
Our leadership structure provides opportunities for students at all levels to undertake leadership roles within the school. Whether they're in junior or senior years, there are a variety of leadership and skill development opportunities to get involved with and develop their leadership potential.
Our school community leaders are comprised of the Year 12 Student Leaders, Year Level Leaders, and the REAL Council. Our Year 12 Student Leaders include School and Vice Captains, Community, Environmental, Arts, and Sporting Captains and Prefects who help to organise and run various activities within these areas. These students serve as positive role models for the school and work hard to make a difference in their school and the wider community.
In addition students can be members of the REAL Council, which was designed to provide a direct link between all students and the executive team of the school. This council allows students to have a voice in school matters and ensures that their opinions are heard and valued.
Overall, we believe that by empowering our students with a sense of ownership and responsibility in school matters, we can help them develop into confident and capable leaders. If your student is interested in becoming part of our leadership community, we encourage them to get in touch with the REAL Council Co-ordinator today to learn more about what they have to offer.

Peer Power Australia
At our school, we believe in nurturing leadership skills from the ground up. That's why our Year 12 School Leaders participate annually in the Peer Power leadership coaching program, commencing from Term 4 (Year 11) of the preceding year. Through this program, our student leaders embark on a journey of self-discovery, exploring their unique personalities and honing their leadership abilities. With a focus on fostering an inclusive and respectful environment, they learn valuable skills that emphasise the importance of embracing respect and diversity to unite our school community.
Year 11 Leadership Camp
At Redbank Plains State High School, we recognise the significance of developing a leadership culture in young people to positively influence attitudes and behaviours to improve our school culture. The Year 11 Leadership Camp aims to equip our future school leaders with the skills and confidence needed to develop strong leadership in Year 12. Students learn about the core skills – inclusion, team building, morale, and peer organisation.
