With over 1400 students and more than 34 years of experience, Redbank Plains State High School provides a challenging, innovative and exciting learning environment with a focus on seeking excellence in academic achievement and performance. We strive to provide quality learning and teaching experiences that cater for all learning styles.

Students can apply for enrolment at Redbank Plains State High School (RPSHS) under the following categories:

Under the Selective Entry programs prospective students must have school reports that refect continued excellence in academia, behaviour and effort.

To secure admission to the school, both a parent/guardian and the student are required to attend an enrolment interview and submit all necessary enrolment documents.

Local catchment area

Student’s principal residence is within the defined local catchment area. Parents or legal guardians who wish to enrol their child at Redbank Plains State High School, will need to demonstrate that the student's principal place of residence is within the catchment area. Current proof of residency (2 different documents) at the address indicated is required to be provided. Please provide one primary source and one secondary source with your completed enrolment pack.

  1. One primary source — a current rental/lease agreement, or rates notice, or unconditional contract of sale.
  2. One secondary source — a utility bill (e.g. electricity, gas) showing this same address and parent's/legal guardian's name.

Out-of-catchment application

To make an Out of Catchment application, please complete an Out of Catchment (PDF, 144KB) application and email this to: principal@redbankplainsshs.eq.edu.au

Decision on Enrolment

Selective Entry – The Executive Principal is responsible for all decisions on selective entry enrolments and his decision on selection will be final. There is no internal review of the Executive Principal’s decision.

Local Catchment Area – The Executive Principal is responsible for all decisions on enrolments and may request any additional documentation and conduct other enquiries deemed necessary to satisfy eligibility criteria.

There is no review of the Executive Principal’s decision.

Checklist: You are required to provide the following documentation with students enrolment paperwork? 

  • Copy of Birth Certificate.
  • Copy of previous School report card.
  • Proof of address x 2 (e.g. drivers licence, bill, rental slip)
  • Copy of Legal or Custody documents if applicable. 


Laptops are mandatory at Redbank Plains State High School: Years 7-12

Bring Your Own 'x' (BYOx)​ is a new pathway supporting the delivery of 21st century learning at Redbank Plains State High School.

Redbank Plains State High School students can provide their own laptop for learning. Laptops will need to meet specific requirements in order to be connected to the school network. The school has links with three retailers as an option for parents purchasing a Bring Your Own (BYOx) device. The use of these retailers is not mandatory and they are provided as a convenience for parents. Click here for more information.


The Laptop4Rent alternative program, provides your child with the best device for their needs for a 12 month period with a small hire fee of $200 (2023). This hire program removes the huge pressure on your budget with the school's IT Department supporting your student and the usage of the device. 

The school rental laptop fee provides:
  • A computing device (laptop)
  • Full access to the school wireless network​
  • Monitored Access during School hours
  • Secure, filtered and monitored work environment
  • Accidental damage, loss and theft insurance at home and school (Conditions apply)
  • A sturdy carry case (When the laptop is not being used it MUST always be in the school-issued carry case)
  • School licensed software
  • Technical Support
  • School multi-function print device access (printing, copying, scanning).​

Submitting your application

You will be required to submit your completed enrolment pack with all relevant paperwork attached to our Administration Office, only once this has been submitted we will contact you to arrange an enrolment interview. Students must attend an enrolment interview accompanied by their parents/guardian.

Transferring from another School?

Students enrolling from another Queensland high school must obtain an official transfer from their previous school. We will contact your previous school for background information to help us plan for your success.


Parent information handbook

Our information handbook​ is a must read for every new parent. The booklet holds a plethora of information including class times, uniform and attendance ​expectations, payment  information, the canteen menu and much more.


Student information handbook

The student handbook is designed to provide students with some basic information that they will need during their time at Redbank Plains State High School. It includes basic information about the School as well as where students can go for help and some expectations that the School has of students while they are enrolled.


Uniform Shop

The P&C Association Uniform Shop carries the full range of uniforms necessary for students attending Redbank Plains State High School.

Purchases may be made online through the Qkr! App, or in person at the P&C Association Uniform Shop during opening hours.
