Deciding what career you want to take is a really daunting task for any young student (and their parent/s).

Most of us are unsure of what we want to do, and those few who know what career they want to pursue post-high school are unsure of the options they have to get there. That is why this expo has been created.

Parents/carers — this is your opportunity to be better informed and interact with exhibitors to support your children’s future while in high school and beyond. You never know, parents and carers might find the right opportunity for them as well.

Whether students are interested in healthcare, technology, business, or something else entirely, there will be something for everyone at the Careers Expo. Plus, it's a great opportunity to network and make connections with professionals who can offer advice, guidance and employment opportunities.

Exhibitors list

We would like to express our gratitude to the exhibitors who participated in the careers expo and supported our school community. Thank you for your valuable time and resources in helping our students explore various career paths and opportunities.

Benefits for parents include:

  1. Career Exploration: The careers expo provides a wide range of information about various career paths, industries, and educational opportunities. Parents can assist their students in exploring different options, gaining insights into potential careers, and understanding the required skills and qualifications. This exposure enables students to make more informed decisions about their future and identify areas of interest.

  2. Exposure to Diverse Opportunities: The careers expo will feature representatives from different industries, universities, vocational training centres, and professional organisations. By attending, parents can help broaden their students' horizons and expose them to a variety of career paths they might not have considered before. This exposure helps students think beyond traditional occupations and encourages them to explore emerging fields and industries.

  3. Networking Opportunities: The careers expo will provide networking opportunities where students can interact with professionals, industry experts, and representatives from educational institutions. Parents can support their students by encouraging them to engage in conversations, ask questions, and establish connections with individuals who can provide guidance and insights into their desired careers. Networking can open doors to internships, mentorships, and future employment opportunities.

  4. Support Decision-Making: Making decisions about career paths can be overwhelming for students. Parental support at a career expo can help alleviate some of the stress and confusion. By attending together, parents can discuss options, weigh the pros and cons of different paths, and assist their students in making well-informed choices aligned with their interests, skills, and aspirations.

  5. Access to Information and Resources: The careers expo offers a wealth of resources, including brochures, pamphlets, websites, and contact details for further enquiries. Parents can help their students collect relevant materials and resources, review them together, and explore additional information online. Having access to these resources empowers students to conduct further research, gather insights, and delve deeper into their areas of interest.

  6. Encouragement and emotional support: Attending the careers expo with parents will send a strong message to students that their future matters and that their parents are invested in their success. By actively participating, parents demonstrate their encouragement and provide emotional support, which can boost their child's confidence, motivation, and overall well-being during the career exploration process.

  7. Collaboration in Goal Setting: The Careers Expo serves as a catalyst for students to set goals and establish a roadmap for their future. By attending together, parents can collaborate with their students in setting realistic goals, creating action plans, and outlining steps to achieve those goals. This collaborative effort reinforces the importance of planning and helps students understand that they have a strong support system to rely on.

Parental involvement in this process plays a vital role in guiding and empowering students to shape their future paths successfully.
