Role:
School based policing is a crime prevention strategy aimed at reducing crime through developing police/youth rapport and implementing educational programs. School based policing is a joint commitment by the Queensland Police Service and Education Queensland. School based police officers work to reduce the incidence of crime and anti-social behaviour within the school community, contribute to the network of support agencies for students, provide a safe and supportive environment for students to learn and promote positive relationships with the school community.
Services Offered:
Provide an educational resource for the delivery of lectures on law, police duties and related topics which form part of the school curriculum
Provide information sessions as requested by staff or the school community
Commence investigations in relation to offences which fall with the parameters of the school community
Liaise with local community and business regarding offences committed during school hours to determine if truancy is a factor
Network with local Adopt-a-cops
