All students in Year 10 are required to develop a Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan. SET Planning helps students structure their learning pathway around their interests, abilities, ambitions and learning goals. More information about SET Plan is available on the attached document https://ppr.qed.qld.gov.au/attachment/set-planning-information-for-parents.pdf and on the QCAA (Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority) website. For more information, visit: QCAA SET Planning Information for parents and carers page.
Students begin the SET Planning process in Term 1 in their Access lessons. They will be required to investigate their options and they will receive information about the suite of subjects and pathways available to them. Information sessions for families are held prior to the interviews and support staff (Guidance Officers, Liaison Officers) are available during the interviews to assist with any queries.
The final stage of the SET Plan process requires Year 10 students to attend an interview to finalise subject selections for Years 11-12. The interviews are generally conducted early in Term 3. Parents/caregivers are requested to attend the interview so that all parties can discuss and agree to the plan. It is also an opportunity during for parents/caregivers and students to discuss future study and career paths.
