Redbank Plains State High School is thrilled to announce that the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) has once again received a generous grant of $10,000 from Cleanaway through their Community Grant Program for 2024. This funding will continue to support our senior high school students in obtaining their driver’s licenses, building on the incredible success of last year's initiative.
In 2023, the collaboration between Cleanaway, our school’s Link and Launch program, and the PCYC "Braking the Cycle" initiative made a profound difference in the lives of many of our students. The grant of $4,618 received last April facilitated:
- 45 students gaining access to Prep L.
- 21 students successfully obtaining their Learner's Licenses.
- 20 students passing driving assessments and accessing comprehensive driving lessons.
- 7 students earning their Provisional licenses.
This initiative has significantly alleviated the financial and logistical barriers that many of our students face, allowing them to move towards greater independence and future opportunities. The success stories from last year are a testament to the transformative power of community support and collaboration.
Our Link and Launch Manager, Roz Bowd, who has been instrumental in driving this program, shared her excitement: "Through determination and collaboration, we've ignited a transformative journey at Redbank Plains State High School. The Link and Launch program, bolstered by Cleanaway’s invaluable support, has shattered barriers and paved the way for newfound independence for our young people. Every milestone—be it securing a Learner's License or earning a Provisional license—represents a life changed and a future brightened. This initiative isn't just about driving; it's about opening doors, fostering confidence, and empowering futures."
The renewed grant for 2024 will allow the Senior Schooling team to continue this vital work, ensuring that even more students can access the resources they need to gain their driver’s licenses. This, in turn, equips them with essential life skills and enhances their employability and educational prospects.
"We're overjoyed with the continued support from Cleanaway through their Community Grant Program. This funding has been transformative, helping our students gain their driver's licenses and, more importantly, their independence. The success of last year's program is a testament to the power of community collaboration. With this renewed grant for 2024, we're excited to continue breaking down barriers and creating brighter futures for our students. Together, we are driving change and empowering our youth," said Ms. Rachel Scott, P&C President.
