Navigating Senior Subject Decisions and Career Guidance: A Roadmap for Senior Students

Embarking on the journey towards post-secondary planning can be both exhilarating and overwhelming for high school seniors. At Redbank Plains State High, we recognise the significance of this transitional period and are committed to providing comprehensive support to our students in Years 10-12. Our Senior Schooling team, consisting of experienced educators, counsellors, and support staff, along with dedicated Guidance Officers and our Link and Launch Officer, is here to assist students in navigating the complexities of post-high school planning.

For students interested in vocational education and training, our team offers valuable resources and information to explore trade options, understand industry demands, and connect with reputable training providers such as WesTEC Trade Training College

On the other hand, for those aiming for higher education, we provide extensive support in exploring options such as TAFE and university. With close relationships with Queensland universities, including Queensland University of Technology, University of Queensland, Griffith University, University of Southern Queensland, and many more, we offer insights into course offerings, admission requirements, and application processes. Personalised guidance from our support counsellors helps students identify academic interests, align them with suitable programs, and navigate the application journey confidently.

Moreover, our commitment to employment support prepares students for the workforce upon graduation through our Link and Launch program. The program offers application tips, resume building workshops, and mock interview sessions, ensuring a smooth transition into the workforce.

The Senior Schooling team works closely with students during Years 10, 11, and 12 to identify pathways and options for post-schooling, including TAFE, university, or work. We engage students in school programs aimed at navigating the world of career education and provide personalised support to keep them QCE eligible and focused on Year 13 options.

At Redbank Plains State High School, our commitment to supporting students in their high school and post-secondary planning journey goes beyond academic guidance. We empower our seniors with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to make informed decisions and embark on a fulfilling career path, whether it's pursuing higher education, vocational training, or entering the workforce. We are here to guide you towards success every step of the way.
