Message from the P&C Association President

As the President of the Parents and Citizens (P&C) Association, I'm excited to share a reflection on the incredible contributions and successes of our committee, as well as an outlook for the future.

The P&C works hand in hand with the school principal and the community to promote the school's interests, drive its development, and support student success. Since I took on the role of President in 2020, our partnership with the school has strengthened tremendously, and we look forward to building on this progress in the coming year.

Building a Stronger Partnership

We're calling on parents and community members to attend our monthly meetings, held on the third Monday of each school term month. With your involvement, we can continue to grow this partnership and create even better outcomes for our students and school community.

As a past student and someone without children of my own, being part of the P&C has given me a deep appreciation for the role we play. Our meetings provide a platform for families to share concerns, propose fresh ideas, and collaborate on initiatives to enrich the school experience for everyone.

Canteen and Uniform Shop Success

Our Canteen and Uniform Shop team, led by Mrs Scott and her amazing staff, has had an extraordinary year. They introduced creative themed days—such as Ekka Day, Halloween, Sunflower Day, and Christmas—bringing joy to students and staff alike. These small but meaningful events created happy memories for all.

Supporting the School and Students

Over the past few years, the P&C has directed significant funding into school improvements. This year alone, we have contributed nearly $170,000, including:

  • BBQ and Fun Days
  • Graduation funds for Year 12 students, including portfolios and formal photographers
  • LED light-up letters for school events, reducing costs and enhancing celebrations
  • Sponsorship of major events – 100 Days Year 12 celebrations, Year 12 Formal, and many more
  • $70,000 in landscaping and beautification, including synthetic grass near the canteen and revitalizing the Yarning Circle and Totem Poles to better reflect and celebrate Indigenous culture

Additionally, we secured the Cleanaway – New Chum Grant, enabling students to access the Link to Launch program with Mrs. Roz Boyd's guidance, which supports learner drivers in achieving their Red Ps.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As a growing school, one of our challenges is fostering greater connections with parents and families. To address this, we'll launch a quick survey in the new year to gather your ideas on projects, events, and fundraising initiatives. Ideas such as Harmony Day celebrations, car boot sales, trivia nights, bingo, Krispy Kreme fundraisers, and car raffles have been floated—but we want to hear from you!

With your input, 2025 promises to be our strongest year yet. We encourage you to join us in continuing this momentum and contributing to the success of our school.

Thank You

Finally, I extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and subcommittee executives. Your tireless efforts and shared vision have been key to our accomplishments. Let's continue to work together to make our school a thriving and vibrant place for all.

Here's to an incredible 2025!

Ms Rachel Scott
P&C Association President
