After months of planning, our new friends from Nerima City embarked on an adventurous 8-hour flight to visit us for the 2023 Nerima Sudy Tour. The global pandemic has caused a 3-year gap, making this meeting even more special!

Their first day at Redbank Plains State High School began with a heart warming First Nations welcome ceremony and dance. We were reminded of the significance of culture, heritage, and unity through the performances by our Indigenous students and liaison team. A delightful morning tea allowed everyone to get to know each other better, setting the stage for an exciting week of activities ahead.

Next, our guests had an immersive indigenous art experience, appreciating the rich artistic expressions of First Nations people. The afternoon offered engaging educational experiences, including an English class for language improvement and friendship-building with our students. In return, our Year 8 students had the chance to learn Japanese from our Nerima City friends.

The next day, students and teachers from both schools had a thrilling day in Paradise Country, experiencing life on the land. From skilled stockmen and cattle dogs showcasing their talents to the elegance of Australian Stock Horses, the day was filled with excitement. Students also get up close with Australia's diverse wildlife, from koalas and kangaroos to wombats and Tasmanian devils.

A formal welcome event was held for the visiting Director of Education and Promotion Division, Nerima City, and our esteemed guests who enjoyed a school tour and to see the Nerima students fully immersing themselves as Redbank Plains State High School students, shadowing their buddies and participating various classes including a much anticipated sports lessons.

The study tour concluded with a special farewell ceremony, creating precious memories together. We are immensely grateful for this opportunity to host the Nerima Study Tour, as it brought joy and learning to our school community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to its success!
