School Based Youth Health Nurse

Role:

School based Youth Health Nurses (SBYHN) are employed by Queensland Health to deliver an accessible, and youth ‘user friendly’ Health service within the school setting. The service is available for all students.  The SBYHN maintains a preventative rather than treatment focus and works in partnership with schools to promote health and wellbeing for secondary school aged young people. 

  

Services Offered:

·         Provide classroom based sessions

·         Offer individual health consultations for students

·         Provide advice for referrals and health information

·         Detect actual or potential problems and the provision of brief intervention

·         Provide informal and formal health promotion

Accessibility:

The SBYHN is within the school six days per fortnight.  The schedule is available at the administration desk or the student office.  For further information contact the school on 07 3432 1222.
